Between spirituality and good character
In the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
"And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character." Q68:4
Life will be meaningless and the world will not be suitable if men lack correct creed and principles.
Correct aqeedah (creed) and noble and virtuous character are the keys to a happy and successful life.
A man of religion is essentially a man of good character and if he lacks good character then his religion is questionable.
We often separate spirituality from good character, so we tend to be uncultured with others yet religious in the masajid.
In a narration recorded by ibn Hibban, Anas (RA) said the Prophet said:‎‎
"Whoever lacks trust is deficient in faith and the one who lacks commitment is deficient in his religion."
Trustworthiness and virtuous character should be imbibed by one and all. We can have long beards and raise trousers and always frequent the Masaajid but if our character is deficient we are deficient.
At-Tirmidhi recorded a hadith wherein the Prophet (Pbuh) said: "The most perfect of the believers in faith is the best of them in character. And the best of you are the best to their women."
Our claim of being good Muslims cannot be verified if our interaction with others is not done in a good manner.
We should be nice to people, even those that wish us bad. Our nice disposition will form a barrier between us and their evil plots.
One of the most effective means of influencing humanity is through good character and generous countenance.
‎A good Muslim runs away from arrogance, ignorance and inelegance.
No man has ever been blessed with a more beautiful gift than religion (Islam) and exalted standard of character. May Allaah bless us all with virtuous moral character.‎
