The Missing Link: Between Knowledge and Action

The Missing Link: Between Knowledge and Action
Knowledge is sought for the sake of Allaah. Knowledge is meant to be acted upon. Knowledge provides a fertile ground for humility. Knowledge is just a mere information unless it is acted upon.
Sadly, in this Era of ours, we have both young and old people who pride themselves with knowledge and appear philosophical but are far from practicing the Sunnah.
Rather they have reduced the Islamic knowledge to academic discussion and an arena to display eloquence and fluency rather than teaching and practicing.
That is why you see some who have acquired much knowledge but it has no any apparent benefit to them or the society they live in.
Consequently, a lot of people bask under the shade of knowledge with nothing of deeds to show for it because it has been reduced to a means to attaining fame and fortune from the creations rather than a means to inspire its custodian and others to the awareness and watchfulness of Allaah and ultimately humility.
Ever wondered why we have so much information in our midst yet we are the least of people that practice the truth?
Ever wondered why every one wants to be identified with knowledge but not with action?
Ever wondered why there is so much envy amongst the learned?
Well, all of these could easily be attributed to lack of understanding of why knowledge should be sought, perhaps with a dent of lack of sincerity of purpose. Worse so, the desire to be known (famous) and to be accorded high position and handsome fortune by virtue of knowledge has driven many people into the abysmal world of knowledge acquisition devoid of action.
The companions RA learned knowledge and action simultaneously. Ironically, we are obsessed with knowledge acquisition to beautify our status in the eyes of people and then unfortunately defer action is not till God knows when.
One of the vaccinations against failure in teaching waa the common message of all the Messengers of Allaah فما سألتكم من اجر ان اجري الا على الله
"then no reward have I asked of you, my reward is only from Allaah,"
Think deeply about the these two scenarios on the Day of Judgement: Qur'an as a Witness for or against us. I pray we find ourselves in the former.
